Madness does rule. I read and enjoyed this entire series. I wasn't really wanting it to go mutant zombie...I think hordes of starving violent humans are always more interesting.

What I've tried to do is bring the madness out in the open.Keep it under wraps, and it erupts into wars and violence.-PrevinWell, I've finished book 4 in THE SURVIVALIST series (MADNESS RULES) and each book has captured and held my interest more than the last. I've rated each book with 5 stars and it's very rarely that I find an entire series that I'm able to rank so highly.I've come to know the characters more and more with each book and wish I knew them in real life. Tanner and young Sam banter back and forth and are daily growing fonder of each other. Mason is a man of integrity and honor, trying to find answers as to why so many of his fellow U.S. Marshals were killed in Georgia. And that big galumphing dog Bowie - love him.I've read:Book 1 - "Frontier Justice (The Survivalist)"Book 2 - "Anarchy Rising (The Survivalist)"Book 3 - "Judgment Day (The Survivalist)"The cover art on each book continues to be exceptional and the inner illustrations are detailed and relevant.Even though Mason and Tanner keep getting caught up in outlandish and or dangerous actions (maniacal clowns anyone), the stories are engrossing and don't seem so unbelievable when in the middle of the story.I'm now getting ready to start Book 5 - "Battle Lines (The Survivalist)." I just wish the final book was completed and available - Book 6 - FINEST HOUR (THE SURVIVALIST). I don't handle waiting too well and it's not due out until May 2015.

Note: this review is based upon a complimentary copy of the novel tendered by the author. If Goodreads was not so restrictive in its grading then I would have given The Survivalist (Madness Rules) a 4.5 out of 5. I enjoyed reading the latest installment of The Survivalist series by Dr. Arthur T. Bradley and I would definitely recommend it both to others who are familiar with the collection of novels and those who might be discovering it for the first time; with that said, I also feel like this work does not measure up to the high quality established by its predecessors. The strengths of Madness Rules versus the previous novels in the series are the dialogue between Tanner and Samantha (which, in my opinion, keeps improving and grows more entertaining with each book) and the twists that occur throughout the text. Without giving anything away, there were two instances that I felt were completely unexpected and, as a result, were utterly awesome aspects that set up potentially great moments in the next novel. I also enjoyed the fact that the milieus the characters find themselves in this time wind up being considerable departures from the typical post-apocalyptic environs explored by the average author. Though they might stretch the reader's ability to suspend disbelief, they worked for me and provided a fresh change from the ground that has already been covered.I definitely recommend reading the novel and look forward very much to the next one coming down the line.

Mason continues to hunt down the perpetrators of the U.S. Marshals massacre and the torture and death of his girlfriend Ava. As much as Mason hates to admit the resemblance to his father, the apple does not fall far from the tree.Tanner meanwhile has gotten his charge Samantha back to Washington only to find that her mother the president has supposedly been assassinated by a member of her own staff. Tanner breaks the bad news to Sam, but she has been growing stronger and more mature via her association with Tanner and accepts the grievous news with courage and resolve beyond her years. Now what?

This is an outstanding series of a post-apocalyptic nature in which a disease of Smallpox-99 virus hits the entire world. The main story line is about how one survives without all the modern conveniences that we all take for granted today and those in the book series have to do without and survive. This is a very well written storyline that has action, drama, sadness and a little bit of comedy in the bantering that goes on between the characters.Others have stated that this is not a good series to read. I disagree with their assessment and confirm that if one reads this series, start with the first novel "The survivalist - Frontier Justice" and you will be hooked!

Circumstances guide some, but not mostI question why these two men - father and son, on separate paths in this story series would both risk their lives to help others not only survive, but help them on their personal quest of revenge, deliver news, rescue strangers again, at great risk to themselves. I am impressed with these men and the tales of their adventures. Without the exaggerated almost immortal survival of these men I wouldn't be reading the books, yes, that's the answer to my own question, cause sure as I'm typing this, I'm not going down the path these two men are treading for anyone, or would I?

I'm enjoying this series at least as much as the very popularGoing Homeseries. It has much the same feeling. I don't know why this one doesn't have the same following. Goodreads doesn't even properly show these books as being part of a series.I'm looking forward to the fifth book in the series (Battle Lines) in December!

Very Good Suspenseful!I have read all four of the series in just a few days, could not put it down. The suspense is never ending. The only thing I didn't care for was the constant gory details, it was a little much for me.

It was okay but I've waiting for more progress at the end of Book 3 (this one is Book 4)and it seems that the author was trying to prolong the story : annoying.Hoping that Book 5 in december will bring us more answers and finality.
