3.5 Knowing What You Want Stars* * * 1/2This may have been a second installment, however I had no issues with enjoying this strong entry. We have second chances for love with two who didn't realize at first how much they would need each other to heal their personal demons. Our fella had feelings held over and reborn when he is around his teenage crush. She thinks her chance at love has passed... The loss of her husband has shut her down...She functions, lives but the walls are up and not coming down easily; but he connects, she opens and the both of them find a way to grow closer together. This was handled well with warmth, insight and a willingness to allow their relationship grow and not be rushed. A strong piece for the series. I have become an avid fan of Kim Law’s books for quite some time now. When I received an invitation from the publisher, via Net-Galley to read Montana Rescue in exchange for an honest review, I immediately accepted. I read Montana Cherries last year, and I believe it was the best book I read in 2015. I had very high expectations for Montana Rescue, and I am happy to say this book fulfilled all of them. The plot is compelling, drawing me in from the start, and the characters are deeply complex. The pacing is excellent, making this book a fast and enjoyable read. As always Ms. Law’s books her writing is deeply emotional. On several occasions, I had to wipe tears away. Nick is a fantastic hero. He’s what I would term a really nice guy who did not have an easy time growing up. His mother definitely made feel he was not worthy of love. My heart ached for the little five-year-old boy who was asked to keep such a terrible secret. It is understandable why he has never had an emotional relationship before he meets Harper, and that is when the sparks fly. Harper’s character is so tough on the outside because she has built a brick wall that separates her from everyone, even her family. I loved how she begins to open up to Nick, but then she runs scared, afraid to let him in.  At times I wanted to shake her, but only in a good way. Her back story is so tragic that it hurt my heart. She truly deserves to have a second chance at love. The chemistry between Nick and Harper is combustible. Ms. Law uses a masterful touch when building the sexual tension between this pair. Her love scenes between them are very moving and emotional. If you enjoy a romance with plenty of heart and characters that touch your soul, then you will love Montana Rescue as much as I did. It was such a pleasure to visit with the great characters from Montana Cherries, especially Haley and Jenna. Those two little girls added light and laughter. Happy reading!

Montana Rescues was the perfect name for the second book in Kim Law's series the Wildes of Birch Bay. Both the hero Nick Wilde and the heroine Harper Stone needed to be rescued, but not out in the wilderness, they needed to be rescued from their own pasts. Nick Wilde handsome cowboy is living life large. Loves being the best and coming out on top. He also likes the recognition that comes with being the best. Nick rides the bulls in the Montana Pro Bull riders, he also does commercials too. One thing Nick doesn't do is relationships and love. He learned from his childhood that love made people do stupid things. But lately he was wondering if maybe he was wrong and that he might be missing something with the way he thinks. Harper Stone was widowed. She lost the love of her life, Thomas in an accident. She had met him in the army and both had wanted to live life to the fullest. Thomas has lost his brother and was living life for that brother. Both Harper and Thomas did rescue work for SAR, they has their own helicopter with night time lights which helped out in a lot of missions. Harper wasn't flying those missions since Thomas passed. Harper really wasn't doing very well at all. Harper's sister Jewel needs her to help with the rodeo bulls for six weeks while Bobby her husband is out of town. Harper agrees. While helping her sister with the rodeos Harper and Nick spend a lot of time together. When they were younger Nick has a huge crush on Harper and it seems he might still. As Nick finds out about Harper's husbands accident and what happened they become very good friends and very close. But the closeness leads to them striking up a deal of sorts. This deal could be just what each of them needs to help them deal with their past issues and they have them. I am not going to say any more as I don't want to ruin any of this story. I think this was a beautiful story of how two people can form a very close friendship, work through problems and not even realize what they are doing. These two couldn't have been more perfect for each other, she was so very stubborn and unwilling to bend, and he had the patience of a saint. They saw things in each other and were honest. I loved everything about this story. I will say I shed lots of tears while reading this book, but that is what I want from reading a book, I want it to get to me. Kim Law once again takes me on a roller-coaster of highs and lows with this wonderfully emotional, sexy and funny story.“I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.”

4 stars. Solid, sweet and steamy romance with great emotional depth. I LOVED Montana Rescue. That’s the bottom line. And I am beginning to think that I should start reading this author’s entire backlist. I could have kept on reading this book. Montana Rescue is the second book in the series about the brothers and sisters Wilde: ‘The Wildes of Birch Bay’, set in Montana. I did not read book 1 prior to this one, and although reading this book made me curious about book 1, it didn’t leave me hanging, so I can state it’s a good stand-alone. This is also the second book I read by this author, the other one (also good as a stand-alone), ‘On the Rocks’, I also liked a lot. And for those of you who like Nora Roberts’ writing, chances are you will like this author’s work too.I loved the hero in this story, Nick a rodeo-star. He appeared a real player when the story started, but it soon became clear that the image he showed the world, wasn’t the real him. It took a little more time for me to like the heroine, Harper, a true go-getter bad-ass woman. She was slow to open herself up, slow to let anyone (and by that also me as a reader) in but when she did, I loved her too. That process also fitted her issues: mourning the death of her husband. The hero wasn’t put off by her cold front, because he had been in love with Harper when he was in high school, she three years his senior. Oh, I love that trope! It was so sweet to see him crushing all over again, and trying to give her space to deal with her feelings. And it was also very cool to see how Harper, angry at herself and the world, took all the first steps in the relationship with Nick. Nobody needed to feel pity for her. The true art of characterization in this book for me is that Miss Law took her sweet time in having Harper make peace with her loss, which made it believable for me. The side characters, mostly family on both sides, were fun and added just the extra touch that made the main characters real. I know only of one other author who can make a romance about (almost) normal people with real emotions fully based on internal drama without a whole lot of angst feel just as good: Nora Roberts. Kiw Law then adds some good steamy scenes and… not a cupcake baker in sight. One more thing. The title may let you believe this is a book about mountain rescue teams filled with action scenes saving people gotten lost in the mountains. This is not that book. The title refers to the hero and heroine rescuing themselves. Enjoy.I can recommend this to everyone.*** ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review***

Reviewed at Keeper BookshelfThere are times when a story will touch your heart on many levels. A story that speaks truth, reality and true human emotions. Montana Rescue is such a story. On the surface, Nick has it all. A famous, successful rodeo bull rider, a huge fan base, commercials, any woman he might want and some he doesn’t flock easily to his persona. But the real Nick lies buried deep within. A man with a boy’s memories and determination to not make the same mistakes, to never ever trust another person with his most precious possession… his heart.Harper had the fairy tale, the husband she adored, working side by side at rewarding work they both enjoyed. Life was good for them… until tragedy struck and her life fell into tiny pieces she has no hope of ever putting back together again. She’s not looking for love, she’s had it and lost it – she’ll never risk that emotion again.Fate works in strange ways, Nick and Harper find themselves working closely together. He’s had a crush for years, she’s not looking for anything – but perhaps rescue comes in the strangest form of another person who can give you that second chance at a happy future… if you let them in.I’ve always enjoyed Kim Law’s works and Montana Rescue is no exception. These are complicated characters with pasts that could easily keep them apart and alone for the rest of their lives. At times Harper comes off as too tough to ever bend enough to forgive and move on, Nick is battling his own demons yet his patience is the rock in their relationship even having a chance. I enjoyed watching them open up to each other and to the possibilities that life is handing them right now.If you are a reader who enjoys deeper, more complicated characters then Montana Rescue is a story that I believe you’d enjoy. While this is part of a series, and we do meet up with some characters from the first novel, you could read this one on it’s own… and probably want to go back and get the first one.*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this novel. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this story.*

There are certain authors that I can pick up and within second get into their books, now this doesn't happen with everyone, sometimes it's not even my favorites, but with Kim Law, it always happens. I just really enjoy her stories. Her characters are always likable. her stories are sweet & emotionally driven. All you want in a romance. Montana Rescue is book two in the The Wildes of Birch Bay series. Just a heads up you really should read Montana Cherries first. It really helps build the world of this family. In Montana Rescue you have Nick's story. You'll really like him. I loved the idea that he had a crush on Harper when they were younger. Which sort of makes this a second chance romance, but not really. I've sure been reading a lot of second chance romance lately. But because of what Harper has been through with loosing her husband his crush isn't going to jump right into a full fledged relationship. I like that they didn't rush into anything. It's makes their story more complex, deeper in someway. We figure out right away that Harper is dealing with a ton of issues from the loss of her husband. She's not looking to replace him. She soon learns that being with Nick isn't replacing her husband. I think the coolest thing about Harper is that she's a pilot and flies a helicopter. This is a first for a heroine for me. Kudos's to Law! I really enjoyed Montana Rescue and think you will too. Get it now before book #3 is out. Montana Mornings comes out February 28th. I can't wait! I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my unbiased review. This is book two of the Wildes of Birch Bay series and although it can be read as a standalone, I am enjoying the series, loved the first book and highly recommend you read the series. Having said that, this book is about Nick Wilde, one of a set of twins, and Harper Stone, a woman who is the older sister of Nick’s childhood friend. Those are the pointers and I really can’t go into much more detail but know that both Nick and Harper have back stories that are heartwarming and heartbreaking – both at the same time. I loved Nick, and his entire family, and the story of how he’s lived his life as a championship bull rider since leaving home. Harper is dealing with her own life trauma, after losing her beloved husband in a tragic accident. Heartbreaking, truly. Ms. Law did a great job of telling Nick’s and Harper’s story but I found that I was a bit angry at Harper. For me, her attitude was “all about her” and not being able to talk through her feelings and issues started to annoy me. I consider making me impatient with Harper a GOOD thing, as it shows how the author was able to draw me into the story. I also loved the kids in the book; they were absolutely adorable. My favorite parts were where the kids played on the adults love for them – in a good way, no worries! – and it always made me smile. Overall I really liked this book, Nick and Harper both broke my heart then put it back together, and I loved how the families pulled together, or at least learned what it took to help both the H/h. I recommend this series and this book!

I've always enjoyed all of Kim Law's read and this was no exception. Meet Nick Wilde, a Montana bull rider who is on the cusp of making it to the big leagues - the PBR. As Nick travels along the bull-riding circuit, he sees his best friend's older sister whom he had a major crush on as a child.Harper, said crush, is a helicopter pilot who used to do rescue missions, but now does private flights for the locals. She s living her life one day at a time, struggling to move on after the death of her husband. She blames herself for her husband's death, as he died in a rescue crash and doesn't want anything close to a relationship. Wanting to help out her pregnant sister, Harper tags along on the bull-riding circuit and there she is reintroduced to Nick. As the two start spending more time together, they realize that maybe they really do fit together and they are just what each other need.I really like how Law makes each of her characters unique, as she did with Harper. Harper is a strong-willed woman - she rocks blue hair, makes decisions without caring what everyone else things and strives to be independent. Not only did I enjoy the two main characters, Harper and Nick's family also provide plenty of side-plot that is entertaining.**ARC received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

This was a truly awesome read. A story filled with emotion told in a way that is uniquely Kim Law. Reading this one you'll laugh, you'll cry, and you will most definitely sigh. Nick Wilde is back in Montana to help in the family cherry orchard. He's not sure what's next for him. He's a champion bull rider and now is the time to go national or go home. Home has never been a comfortable place for him. A rough childhood had him leaving at the first chance. Being back has him reevaluating exactly what he wants in life. Especially after seeing his teenage crush Harper Stone. While Harper is as beautiful as ever, she's not the same vibrant girl he remembers. She's lived through her own heartbreak and loss and Nick wants nothing more than to put the smile back on her face and the lust for life back in her heart. Could Nick be Harper's second chance? He hope's so.Don't miss this must read! I highly recommend it.

The second book in the Birch Bay series is a stand alone, but with the characters from the first book brought back for the backstory, and as a foundation for this book. Harper and Nick have known each other all their lives...Nick had always had a crush on Harper, which she knew and always teased him about. Life has taken it's toll on Harper, suffering from a tragedy that has left her a much different woman. Nick is still drawn to her and finds his own inner strength and gifts that he puts to good use for himself, Harper and his family.Ms Law has done a fine job of creating characters that are relatable and who are larger than life. They have pasts that have shaped them, yet through an inner strength, are stronger and more giving of themselves. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley for my honest review.

Nick Wilde is a Handsome Cowboy who is living large. He loves his life and being the best. He also enjoys the recognition that comes from being the best. He rides Bulls for the Montana Pro Bull Riders, he does Commercials also. But he doesn't do Love and Relationships.Harper Stone is a Widow she lost Thomas the love of her life in an accident. Harper and Thomas flew rescue missions for Sar. Since his death she hasn't flown any missions. Her Sister Jewel needs her help with the Rodeo Bulls for six weeks. While helping her she a lot of time of time with Nick. They become good friends and get very close. A beautiful story of Friendship and how two people work through their problems and help each other.

A beautiful cover of the book for a beautiful story! I loved every minute of it. This new series is amazing and this is only the second book! A story about love and second chances. It will make you laugh and cry. A heartwarming romance story about Nick Wilde and Harper Stone. Nick thinking no one could ever love him because of his mother. Harper blames herself for her husband's death and thinks she does not deserve to me happy. Can they get over their past and move on with the future? Read the story and you will not be sorry. I loved every minute of it and hated to see it end!

Loved the story, but......This was a great book continuing the series about the Wildes of Birch Bay, but there was just too much sex for m e in the story. When you have to skip pages of dialogue in order not to read descriptions of sex, then this is not the story for you. The characters were good and I loved reading a bout bull riding. This novel had so much more to offer than the sexual escapades between Nick and his girlfriend.

This is a lovely story about Montana bull rider Nick Wilde and his childhood friends older sister who he had a teenage crush on. When they meet again she is newly widowed and he has never recovered from a troubled childhood. As time moves on Nick admits to his feelings and Harper so afraid she rejects him. After a mom daughter chat she decides to risk all, and to find out how that went you need to read this book.I received this book free from netgalley in return for an unbiased review.

Nick Wilde was a champion bull rider. Harper Stone was a recent widow. Harper is also Nick's best friend's sister. For as long as he could remember, Nick had always had a crush on Harper. Nick had also had a lot of heartache during his growing up years. Their worlds seemed to collide at the rodeo one weekend. Harper was looking for something to fill the void of her lost husband, and Nick was, well... just looking. Through a series of events, they managed to fall head over heels with each other. A sweet story.

Good readAlthough I enjoyed the read I dod not enjoy Harpers back and forth. For her character to have supposwd to be the strong one she syre took awhile to come to grips with reality. Thank Goodness Nick had patience or they really would have had issues. Other than that it was a nice read. Love how the siblings are more involved with eachother and are learning ro get over their mothers failures.

I read so many books that only a few stories will stay on my mind after a couple of months. They are books that for whatever reason moved me in some way. I know this will be one of those. Not only is the author one of the best I have ever read, but this story is profound and deeply moving. Bring your Kleenex. You'll need tissues but trust me - it's all good.

SensationalMontana Cherries and Montana Rescue were exceptional stories. This is the first time I ever read anything by Kim Law but can guarantee it won't be the last books I read by this author. I also ordered the third book in that s series, Montana Morning and I just know it will be as great as the first two.

Too graphicAfter reading Montana Cherries, this book was two steps above porn with the sex scenes. The story would have been just as good without this. I am rather hesitant about reading the next book, but I will give it a try.
